About CMAC
Carr’s Martial Arts Club (CMAC) is a not-for-profit community organization committed to Breaking Down Barriers Through Martial Arts. We provide free, inclusive, and accessible training where children, youth, adults, and families can develop confidence, resilience, leadership, practical skills, and a strong sense of belonging.
Our programs combine authentic Taekwon-Do, traditional Hapkido, and practical self-defence in a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment. With help from our instructors, volunteers, members, families, sponsors, donors, and community partners, we work to remove the financial, social, and structural barriers that can prevent people from participating.
Our mission is guided by five pillars:
- Free and Accessible Programs: We provide quality martial arts instruction without regular membership fees, helping make training available to more people.
- Community Connection: Members are encouraged to give back through community service and outreach initiatives throughout the year.
- Collective Commitment: Fundraising is a shared responsibility that helps cover club expenses and needs that cannot be supported through grants.
- Leadership Development: We create opportunities for youth and adults to build confidence, take responsibility, support others, and become positive leaders.
- All-or-Nothing Family Equity: Our decisions are guided by fairness and inclusion, ensuring that opportunities and important program resources benefit everyone—not just a select few.
At CMAC, martial arts is about much more than physical training. It is a pathway to personal growth, meaningful relationships, community involvement, and lasting positive change. Together, we are building a club where everyone has the opportunity to participate, grow, lead, and belong.

We are conveniently located at the Sackawa Canoe Club, 159 First Lake Dr., Lower Sackville. There is lots of parking and the building is easily accessible to all. Sackawa is located on Halifax Transit bus route 82/ 182 First Lake and within walking distance of route 84 Glendale.
